You must pass all 3 consecutive tests to become a driving instructor.
The ADI part 1 test is a theory test made up of two parts: a set of multiple choice questions and a hazard perception module.
Next, in the ADI part 2 test you must show that you can drive safely in different road and traffic conditions and show that you can implement The Highway Code in the way in which you drive.
The third and final part is the ADI part 3 test. In this test, an examiner will observe you teaching a client centred driving lesson, lasting around an hour to one of your pupils.
In order to qualify, you must pass all three aspects of the test.
